Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Germandorf in Roswell located in the state of New Mexico,, was in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's most popular songs about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver became the initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. On my trips I've had the pleasure of meeting individuals from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado The first thing they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint with folk bands which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that it was destined to be a hit single. Danoff recorded the track within a couple of days when he performed it in front of crowds of enthusiastic fans at Washington D.C.
